Stacy Lawrence Newton, 59, of Warren, formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away December 27, 2025. Born January 18, 1966, to Armanda Newton. As a young boy he spent his summers in the country farming with his grandpa, picking watermelons and hanging with his favorite, and only grandmother, Leatrice Newton.
Stacy rededicated his life to Christ in 2023 and was a faithful servant of the Lord.
He enjoyed playing basketball at the boy’s club in Hawthorne. That’s where his love for the game grew. Stacy graduated from Washington High School in 1984, where he proudly played on the basketball team. He played ball in Lola, Kansas at Allen Community College for a period of time as well.
Stacy will be remembered for his unconditional love, dedication to his family and unwavering loyalty. He had such a great sense of humor, and he never met a stranger. He found joy in old school cars, his children, grandchildren, and in cheering on the KC Chiefs and the Jayhawks. Of course, we can’t forget his love of online shopping at Amazon and buying new rims for all his rides. He also enjoyed taking road trips to see his family back home in KC.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Miracle Skye Francis.
He is survived by his mother, Armanda J. Newton; five children, Natalie Newton, Ronald J. Newton, Donte J. Newton, Stacey L. Newton, Chasity Newton; bonus daughter, Meshella Shevchuk; six grandchildren, Aaliyah, Johnathon, Braylan, Chloe, Jamila, Jaylin; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held January 10 at Hermitage Community Center, Hermitage, AR. with Rev. Christopher Conedy, First Church of God Las Vegas officiating. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
