MONTICELLO, Ark. – Construction is officially underway on Phase 2 of the Lakewoods Trails project in Monticello, continuing the expansion of the city’s developing cycling and outdoor recreation system.
Organizers with Lakewoods Trails – Monticello announced the start of the new phase, noting that additional trail segments and improvements are now in progress. During construction, trail users are asked to refrain from entering any areas that are closed and to observe all posted signage and safety tape.
Once Phase 2 is completed, the expanded trail system will allow Lakewoods Trails to host more organized events and will be better suited to function as a race venue. The improvements are also expected to enhance everyday use for cyclists, runners, and outdoor enthusiasts throughout the community.
The project is a collaborative effort involving the Trail Organization of the Arkansas Delta and the City of Monticello, with community support playing a key role in the trail system’s continued growth.
Project leaders expressed appreciation for the public’s patience during construction and for the shared commitment to creating a healthier, more active community. Additional updates will be provided as work on Phase 2 continues.
