Lady Jacks secure statement win over Watson Chapel in Conference opener

WARREN, Ark. — The Warren Lady Jacks turned back a strong challenge from Watson Chapel on Friday night, rallying for a 67-59 victory at Lumberjack Arena to improve to 18-2 overall and earn their first win in Conference 8-4A play.

Facing what is expected to be one of the conference’s top teams, Warren showed poise and resilience, overcoming an early deficit with timely shooting and steady execution down the stretch.

Watson Chapel opened the game with a quick 4-0 run, but the Lady Jacks quickly settled in behind Breize Fellows. Fellows knocked down back-to-back three-pointers in the opening quarter, sparking Warren’s response and helping the Lady Jacks battle back to a 16-16 tie after the first eight minutes.

Warren began to seize control in the second quarter. Charlee Wardlaw connected on a key three-pointer to give the Lady Jacks a 19-16 lead, and Warren never trailed again. Bayleigh Miller added a three of her own during the stretch as the Lady Jacks steadily extended the margin and carried a 31-23 lead into halftime.

The Lady Jacks continued to answer every Watson Chapel push in the third quarter, with Miller taking over offensively. She scored seven points in the period as Warren maintained its advantage and entered the fourth quarter up 46-42.

In the final quarter, Warren’s composure proved decisive. Livi McKinney delivered key baskets and converted crucial free throws, while Fellows and Miller closed out the game at the line, allowing the Lady Jacks to pull away late for the eight-point win.

Fellows led the way with 19 points, shooting efficiently from the floor and connecting on three shots from beyond the arc. Miller followed with 18 points, providing steady scoring throughout the night, while McKinney added 13 points and played a pivotal role in the closing minutes. The balanced scoring effort and clutch free-throw shooting helped Warren secure the win against a quality conference opponent.

With the victory, the Lady Jacks improve to 18-2 overall and 1-0 in Conference 8-4A.

Warren will be back in action on the road next Tuesday against Star City.
