Virginia (Gingy) Dew Cuthbertson, 1948-2026

Virginia (Gingy) Dew Cuthbertson, age 77, died January 17, 2026, at home in Warren, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late H.A. (Jack) Dew, M.D. and Freddie Free Dew, both of Warren.

Gingy was a graduate of Warren High School and the University of Arkansas. She married John Cuthbertson in May of 1970. The couple lived the intervening years in their shared hometown of Warren, where they raised their daughters Carmen and Jill. Gingy was a vibrant and active member of the Warren community, known for her kind heart and giving spirit.

For over twenty-three years, Gingy ran the Warren Branch Library.  Under her vision and leadership, a new library was built to provide Warren residents with greater access to books and resources.  The library facility was later enlarged with a new addition, a project spearheaded by her as well.

Gingy was also a member of the Bradley County Medical Center Board. During her tenure, she pushed to have a sales tax passed that still helps fund the Medical Center today. She also served on the Hospital Auxiliary and previously held leadership roles in the Junior Auxiliary. She was an active and engaged member of the First Methodist Church and served on many committees and took on many volunteer roles throughout the years.

In addition to major civic projects, Gingy was known for helping those in need and she often took special friends under her wing. Her gentle empathy and caring acts improved the lives of many Warren residents, in ways big and small.  She was a treasured confidant to a wide circle of friends.  Everyone, friends and family alike, coveted pieces of her delicious coconut and chocolate meringue pies.

Gingy was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas A. Dew, M.D., sister, Jo Ann Dew Reichen, sister-in-law Bettye Kellogg Dew, brothers-in-law, Frank Reichen, Jimmy Cuthbertson and Chuck Cuthbertson, and niece, Kris Reichen DeMuth.

Survivors are her husband of 55 years, John Cuthbertson; two daughters, Carmen Cuthbertson (Dean) and Jill Lugash (Blake); beloved grandchildren Cooper and Emerson Lugash; brother, Robert Dew (Marci); sister-in-law, Carolyn Sanford; brother-in-law, Robert Cuthbertson (Denise) and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Pam Thompson for her care and support.

A memorial service will be held at Frazer’s Funeral Home on Friday, January 23, at 2:00 P.M. with visitation before at 1:00 P.M.

Memorial donations can be made to the First Methodist Church of Warren, 111 West Church, Warren, AR 71671; the Friends of the Warren Branch Library, 115 W. Cypress, Warren, AR 71671; or the Donald W. Reynolds YMCA of Warren and Bradley County, 207 N. Main St, Warren, AR 71671.
