Warren falls to Star City on the road, 81-50

STAR CITY, Ark. — The Warren Lumberjacks faced a tough road test Tuesday night and came up short, falling 81-50 to the Star City Bulldogs.

The game opened competitively, with Bleyze Fellows scoring the Lumberjacks’ first basket to tie the game at 2-2. Zaydin Grider followed with an early three-pointer that trimmed the deficit to 10-6, but Star City answered with a decisive 9-point run to seize control of the first quarter. Fellows led Warren in the opening period with five points as the Bulldogs began to build separation.

In the second quarter, Warren continued to battle despite multiple Star City scoring spurts. Colton Steen got involved early with a field goal, while Josiah Steen added a pair of baskets to keep the offense moving. Fellows remained aggressive, scoring eight points in the quarter and getting to the free-throw line, but a 12-point Bulldog run widened the margin before halftime.

Fellows finished as Warren’s leading scorer with 20 points, showing persistence throughout the contest. Colton Steen followed with an efficient 12-point performance, while Josiah Steen added nine points. Grider contributed seven points, including his early three, and Tayshawn Edwards chipped in two points. Team totals reflected the Bulldogs’ advantage at the free-throw line and from beyond the arc, as Star City connected on eight three-pointers and 17 free throws compared to Warren’s five makes at the stripe.

Despite the final score, the Lumberjacks continued to compete through the final buzzer, with multiple players seeing action in the fourth quarter as Warren looks to regroup and build momentum heading into its next outing.

Warren now stands at 1-12 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. The Lumberjacks will be back in action Thursday night, January 22, when they return home to Warren to host Crossett.
