Warren closes strong to defeat Crossett 67-60

WARREN, Ark. — The Warren Lumberjacks picked up their first conference win of the season Thursday night, defeating the Crossett Eagles 67-60 at home to improve to 2-12 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Warren came out strong to open the contest, with Josiah Steen and Bleyze Fellows combining to fuel a quick 6-0 run. Crossett responded with a scoring surge of its own, including back-to-back three-pointers, to take a 16-12 lead late in the first quarter. The Lumberjacks closed the gap behind seven first-quarter points from Fellows and trailed just 19-17 at the end of the period.

The second quarter proved to be a turning point for Warren as Colton Steen took control offensively, scoring nine points in the frame. After briefly falling behind early in the quarter, the Lumberjacks used a balanced attack from Colton and Josiah Steen along with Fellows to seize momentum and build a 36-30 lead at halftime.

The second half featured a physical, back-and-forth battle as Crossett continued to apply pressure and made several runs to keep the game close. The Eagles eventually tied the contest at 56-56 in the fourth quarter, but Warren answered in the closing minutes with poised execution.

Fellows led all scorers with 22 points, including seven in the final period to help secure the win. Colton Steen finished with 15 points and controlled the paint throughout the night, while Josiah Steen added 15 points of his own as the trio combined to anchor Warren’s offense.

The Lumberjacks’ ability to respond in key moments and finish strong down the stretch sealed a hard-earned victory in front of the home crowd. 

If weather conditions do not cause cancellations, Warren is scheduled to return to action on the road next Tuesday, January 27, with a conference matchup at Monticello.
