Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office issues road condition update amid icy conditions

RISON, Ark. – The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office released an updated report Wednesday morning outlining hazardous road conditions across much of the county following recent winter weather.

According to the sheriff’s office, Highway 97 out of Kingsland has the northbound lane clear, while the southbound lane remains covered in ice. Highway 189 South is reported to have both lanes ice covered. Highway 8 is mostly clear, though ice patches remain in some areas.

Officials said Highway 79 is clear with scattered ice patches, while Highway 35 north of Rison is ice covered. Highway 133 is also ice covered. Highway 35 south of Rison, as well as Highway 114, remain ice covered, according to the report.

Additionally, Highway 35 south from Rye toward Monticello is reported to be ice covered. Highway 63 is described as mostly clear but still has ice patches.

In a follow-up comment, the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office stated that all county roads are currently ice covered.

Officials said updates will be provided as conditions change and more information becomes available. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution and avoid travel if possible until road conditions improve.
