Gerald Thomas Mitchell age 85, of Warren Arkansas departed this life on February 6, 2026 to join his loved ones who reside in heaven. He was born on February 3rd 1941 in Banks, Arkansas. He was the son of the Late Frank Mitchell and Ruth McMurry Mitchell. After graduating High School, he joined the National Guard and worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a station master. Gerald was later employed as a dispatcher for Troop F of the Arkansas State Police. He retired from Potlatch Corporation after 30 years of service in the accounting department. He was also a farmer, real estate developer, and co-owner of G&K Rentals. He co-founded Mitchell Lumber and Hardware and worked there until his passing. Gerald took great pleasure in sharing his knowledge and experience of home repairs and projects as well as running his hardware store. He served on the board of the ASFCU, Bradley County Farmers Association, and he was a member of the Bradley County Cattlemen’s Association. He was also a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and served as a deacon for several decades.
Preceding him in death is his beloved wife of 55 years, Katherine Mitchell, as well as his brothers Ralph Mitchelland Aulton Mitchell and a sister Jean Mitchell Wolfe. Survivors include his sons Mike Mitchell and spouse Kelly, Ivan, AR, Tim Mitchell and spouse Shelley, Warren, AR. Four grandchildren Whitney Davis, Serena Huggins both of Scotland, AR, Sarah Richard and spouse Wesley Richard, and Brooke Moring and spouse Devlyn Moring, all of Warren. Nine great grandchildren including Bodie, Dax and Rylie Richard and Lily Moring. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Gerald’s special caregivers Sue Wylie and Terry Ogden.
Funeral services were 2:00 PM on Monday February 9, 2026 at Frazer’s Chapel of the Chimes. Burial was at Williams Cemetery in Banks, Arkansas.
