Miller Surpasses 1,000 Career Points as Lady Jacks Defeat Star City 62-39, Improve to 6-0 in 8-4A

Warren’s Bayleigh Miller scored 20 points vs. Star City Tuesday and surpassed 1,000 career points.

WARREN, Ark. – The Warren Lady Jacks overcame an early deficit and turned in a dominant performance over the final three quarters Tuesday night, defeating the Star City Lady Bulldogs 62-39 at home.

With the win, Warren improves to an incredible 23-2 overall and remains unbeaten in 8-4A Conference play at 6-0.

The game opened with early back-and-forth action as Warren jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead behind baskets from Alyssa Calbert and Charlee Wardlaw. Star City answered with a 9-point run and held a 14-7 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Jacks responded with poise and balance in the second period. Warren outscored the Lady Bulldogs 21-10 in the quarter to take a 28-24 halftime lead. Bayleigh Miller ignited the surge with a 9-point second quarter, helping shift the momentum firmly in Warren’s favor.

Miller led all scorers with 20 points, knocking down nine field goals, including two three-pointers. She also contributed three steals and three blocks in a strong all-around effort. Breize Fellows added 12 points, connecting on five field goals and two three-pointers, while Calbert finished with nine points, including a key three during the second-quarter rally.

Warren extended its lead to 43-32 by the end of the third quarter and put the game away with a dominant fourth period. The Lady Jacks’ defensive pressure created opportunities in transition, and their depth proved valuable down the stretch.

Wardlaw finished with eight points, adding two offensive rebounds. Khourtni Johnson chipped in four points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field, and Brooklyne McVay knocked down a three-pointer late in the contest to punctuate the victory. Nyla Simmons added four points and four rebounds, while Livi McKinney provided energy inside with seven rebounds and three steals.

As a team, Warren recorded 10 steals and controlled the glass with 26 total rebounds. 

Following the game, Coach Mary Beth Grant presented Miller with a commemorative basketball in recognition of surpassing 1,000 career points as a Lady Jack.

The Lady Jacks will return to action Friday on the road at Crossett as they continue conference play.
