HERMITAGE, Ark. – The Hermitage School District recently celebrated a milestone as the Hermitage Weight Lifting Team competed in its first competition at Monticello.
According to a post from the district on February 21, school officials expressed pride in the team’s performance, noting that the athletes are “doing excellent in all areas” during the Monticello competitions. The event marked the first official competition for Hermitage’s weight lifting program.
Photos from the meet show Hermitage lifters competing in multiple weight classes, with teammates and coaches gathered around the platforms offering encouragement. The competition took place inside Monticello’s gymnasium, where athletes from various schools participated throughout the day.
The district encouraged the community to recognize the students’ efforts and dedication as they continue building the program.
“Today is a great day to be a Hermit! Go Weight Lifting Hermits!” the post read.
The inaugural competition represents an important step for the growing Hermitage weight lifting program as it looks ahead to future meets this season.
