Warren Falls in Road Contest at Little Rock Central

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (3/10/26) – The Warren High School baseball squad traveled to Little Rock Central, a member of Arkansas’s largest classification, Tuesday evening for a nonconference clash, but a defensive miscue led to a big inning as the Jacks lost by a score of 12-0 at Buddy Coleman Field in Little Rock.

Warren’s overall record dropped to 0-3, while the Tigers, members of the 6A Central, improved to 4-2 on the season.

Early on, the game looked to be heading in the direction of the Jacks’ first two games where runs were hard to come by. The Lumberjacks put two runners on in the top of the first, but a caught stealing and strikeout ended the threat. Little Rock Central hit a two-out triple, but starting pitcher Ren Reep stranded him at third in the bottom half.

The game got to the bottom of the third still scoreless with two outs and runners on the corners for Central. The runner on first base attempted to steal second with Warren faking the throw to second and looking back to third base. The runner on third had drifted too far off the bag and the Lumberjacks caught him in a rundown. However, the runner was able to avoid the tag and scamper back to third base. This miscue wound up leading to six runs for Central after two walks, two singles, and a fielder’s choice before the third out was recorded.

The Orange and Black put two runners on base in the fourth inning, but a pickoff and strikeout silenced the threat. The Tigers then added six more runs in the bottom of the frame on just two hits, but four walks and two hit-by-pitches supplied plenty of baserunners for the home team.

Warren picked up its only hit in the game, a two-out single by Tucker McDiarmid, in the fifth inning. However, the next batter flew out to left field to clinch the 12-0 victory for Little Rock Central.

The Tigers only picked up five hits on the day, but 12 walks and three batters hit by a pitch led to plenty of traffic on the bases in the third and fourth innings. Reep started on the mound and tossed the first three innings with four strikeouts. Jackson Denton and McDiarmid combined to get the final three outs. Warren was not able to get much offense going, but only struck out twice during the contest.

The Lumberjacks will play their regular-season home opener on Friday against Magnolia. First pitch from the Warren City Complex is set for 4:30 p.m.
