WOODLAWN — Students in the Woodlawn High School Spanish program recently partnered with local businesses and community members to help restore a historic sign at Wesley Chapel Church, bringing together education and local heritage in a meaningful way.

According to a post from the Woodlawn High School Spanish program, the project was completed in cooperation with Morgan Wooley King, Blake King Plumbing, WHS SEACBEC Construction students, and professor Jeremy Groves. The group worked together to build and install a new sign for the Wesley Chapel Church and cemetery.

The project provided students with a hands-on learning experience while also contributing to the preservation of a historic site in the community. Organizers described the effort as a success in uniting educational institutions, local businesses, and residents around a shared goal.

The newly installed sign marks a piece of local history that had previously been missing, helping to reconnect the community with its past. Participants expressed hope that the project will serve as a reminder of the importance of honoring ancestors and preserving community heritage.

Photos shared from the project show students and volunteers working together on the installation, as well as the finished sign now standing at the historic church site.
