Weevils Drop Midweek to Ouachita Baptist

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team was back home at Union Bank Park on Tuesday evening to host the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist in a non-conference midweek game. After opening the game with a tremendous display of offense, UAM would drop the contest, 13-12.

Midweek, 9 Innings

Ouachita Baptist: 13, Arkansas-Monticello: 12

Scoring Recap:

Arkansas-Monticello erupted for nine runs in the first inning to take early control of the game. Camden Tanner and Daniel Lizarraga each homered to start the scoring, while Jackson Riedling added a two-run blast later in the frame. Eli Marvin and Kyle Tolley each contributed RBI singles as the Weevils built a 9-0 advantage.

Ouachita Baptist responded with a five-run second inning, highlighted by a two-run home run, before adding another run in the third to cut the deficit to 9-6.

The Weevils extended their lead in the fifth inning on a two-RBI double from Riedling, pushing the score to 11-6.

The Tigers answered again in the sixth, plating five runs to even the game at 11-11. Ouchita then took the lead in the ninth inning with a two-RBI double.

UAM attempted a late comeback in the bottom of the ninth, scoring on an RBI single from Elijah Olaybal, but were unable to complete the rally as Ouachita held on for the 13-12 win.

Pitching Performances:

– Max French started on the bump for UAM, going 2.0 innings with five earned runs on six hits. He struck out a batter and walked one.

– Mason Lemons made an appearance, throwing 1.0 inning, allowing one earned run on two hits with a strikeout.

– Tyler Vincent saw 2.0 scoreless and hitless innings of work, striking out two batters.

– Ryan Mesaris allowed three earned runs on one hit with three walks.

– Christian Hubbard grabbed 0.2 inning with two earned runs on one hit.

– Joshua Tribe tossed 1.1 innings on the evening, allowing only one hit with two strikeouts.

– Cody Graf took the loss on the night, throwing 1.0 innings with two earned runs allowed on one hit and three walks. He struck out a batter as well.

– Bryce McGuire was the eighth and final pitcher for UAM on Tuesday, throwing 1.0 scoreless inning with one hit allowed and a strikeout.

– Camden Tanner – 3-for-4 with a HR, 2 2B, 3 Runs, 2 RBI, and 1 BB

– Daniel Lizarraga – 3-for-5 with a HR, 2 Runs, 1 RBI, and 1 BB

– Jackson Riedling – 2-for-6 with a HR, 4 RBI, and 1 Run

– Elijah Olaybal – 2-for-4 with a 2B, 2 Runs, 2 BB, and 1 RBI

– Eli Marvin – 2-for-5 with 3 RBI, 2 Runs, and 1 BB

On Deck For The Weevils

Arkansas-Monticello will continue their home stand this Thursday, April 16, and Friday, April 17, as they welcome the Tigers of East Central University for a GAC series, during Alumni and Friends Weekend at the Ballpark. Game one of the series will begin at 6:00 p.m. The series was originally scheduled for Friday-Saturday, but moved due to incoming weather.
