Joann Davis Hampton, 1946-2026

Joann Davis Hampton, 80, of St. Louis, MO., passed away May 12, 2026. Born April 25, 1946, to General and Romelia Davis. She was raised in Warren, AR., where she attended school in the Bradley County School District.  At an early age, Joann gave her life to Christ and was grounded in a faith that would guide her throughout her years.

As a young woman, Joann met the love of her life, Jerrel Hampton, and the two were united in marriage on August 4, 1967.  The couple began their life together in Chicago, IL., before planting roots in St. Louis, MO., where they built a beautiful family. Together, they were blessed with three remarkable daughters, Felicia, Sandra and Carla. A dedicated and determined woman, Joann poured into her daughters a strong work ethic, sound values, and a spirit of independence that shaped them into the women they are today.  Known for her impeccable sense of style, she had a zest for life that expressed itself through shopping, traveling, playing bingo, dancing and deep love of music. In her retirement years, her greatest joy was time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joann had a gift for making everyone around her feel special, she was the heart of every gathering, always ready with a story that would leave the room in tears of laughter. Her warmth and spirit were felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents, General & Romelia; husband, Jerrel Hampton; sisters, Dorothy, Betty, Bobby Ann and Marilyn.

She is survived her daughters, Felicia Knighten (Patrick), Sandra Hampton, Carla Prost (Charles); grandchildren, Arionne Hampton, Alexis Knighten, Dwayne Buckels; great grandchildren, Kaci, Aerie, Jai’lee, Kamieus; brother, Larry Davis (Gloria); aunt, Robbie Green; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held May 23 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Warren, AR., with Rev. Silas Warner officiating. Burial was in Palestine Cemetery in Johnsville, AR.  Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
