WARREN, Ark. – Residents of Warren, Monticello and several other South Arkansas communities are being encouraged to look to the skies on Tuesday, June 30, as the Arkansas National Guard brings its “Fly Over Arkansas” celebration to the region.
The four-day statewide aviation event, scheduled for June 29 through July 2, is part of Arkansas’ observance of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary and will feature Arkansas National Guard aircraft flying over communities across the state.
For local residents, Tuesday, June 30 will be the day to watch. Communities scheduled to be included in the South Arkansas portion of the flyover include:
- Warren
- Monticello
- Rison
- Hampton
- Star City
- Sheridan
- Fordyce
- Camden
- Magnolia
- El Dorado
- Hamburg
- Lake Village
- Arkansas City
- Pine Bluff
- Perryville
The Arkansas National Guard has not announced specific flyover times for individual communities, but residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the sky throughout the day and follow the Guard’s social media channels for updates.
The “Fly Over Arkansas” event is designed to celebrate the service of Arkansas National Guard aviators while helping mark the nation’s Semiquincentennial—the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The statewide route begins Monday, June 29, with communities including Benton, Hot Springs, Mena, Hope and Texarkana. On Wednesday, July 1, the flyover moves through eastern and north-central Arkansas, while Thursday, July 2, concludes the tour with stops in north and northwest Arkansas.
For residents of Warren, Monticello, Hampton, Rison and Star City, June 30 will provide a unique opportunity to see Arkansas National Guard aircraft overhead as part of a statewide tribute to America’s 250th birthday celebration.
