The Warren Civil Service Commission met last week and hired a new full-time firefighter to fill a vacancy. Hired was Joseph Brandon Baker. Mr. Baker has served as a volunteer fireman and has some training, but will have to attend the fire training academy.
The Warren Fire Department consists of a full time chief, three full-time firemen and a number of volunteers. Currently, Larry Hayes is Acting Chief as the City is seeking a full-time chief. The City’s central station is located at the corner of N. Myrtle and Alabama Streets with a substation located on N. Ethridge Street.
The Department has a training session monthly for all full time and volunteers. The Fire Chief reports to the Mayor.
