Close battle with Arkadelphia ends in defeat for Jacks

WARREN, Ark. – A second half goal from Alann Juarez was not quite enough for the Warren Lumberjacks to pick up a victory against Arkadelphia Monday, as the Jacks fell by the final of 2-1 April 25, 2022 at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium in Warren.

The first half was an all-out battle, with the field stretched as both teams pushed for an opening goal. Warren’s first chance of the night came in the tenth minute as midfielder Hector Torres zipped a free kick close to goal, just grazing the post.

Warren keeper Jessi Cortes made an outstanding save in the seventeenth minute, pushing a Badger shot out to keep the 0-0 scoreline intact. Arkadelphia did have one more big chance in the first half. In the twenty-eight minute they ripped a shot across the face of the goal, but it went wide left. The score remained 0-0 at the half.

The goalless match would last through twenty minutes into the second half. Arkadelphia looped a shot over the Warren keeper to take the lead and apply the pressure to Warren.

The Jacks picked up the pace however, and in the sixty-eight minute their hard work paid off. Striker Alann Juarez powered a low shot into the left corner to even things up at 1-1.

Just three minutes later however Arkadelphia would retake the lead through a rebounded shot tucked away from close range. The Badgers went on to defeat Warren 2-1.
