CLINTON, Miss. – The Arkansas-Monticello baseball team took down Mississippi College on Tuesday afternoon as they traveled to Clinton, Mississippi for a mid-week with the Choctaws. The Weevils put up 3 runs compared to Mississippi College’s 1 run. UAM would head home with a win as they prepare for their upcoming GAC series with SAU.
Jordan Johnson has done some impressive things in his time at UAM, and as his final season with the Weevils is slowly closing in, he’s yet again proved how big of an impact he is to the program. In Tuesday afternoon’s match-up, Johnson broke another GAC record in his long career with Monticello. Driving a ball through the left side, Johnson broke the GAC career hits record with his 262nd base hit.
UAM was the first team on the board as Chase Cripps scored on a fielder’s choice in the fourth.
Mississippi College found themselves a run in the fifth off a double.
Jordan Johnson’s record-breaking single through the left side in the sixth scored Chase Cripps for their second run of the game.
The final run of the game came in the eighth when Grant Jeffers scored on a Cade Thompson double play ball. The Weevils would win the match 3-1.
Pitching Performances
Charles Peacock started on the mound, totaling 5.0 innings pitched with only 1 run scored on 2 hits allowed. He stuck out 8 batters in his outing.
Jack Barna closed out the last 4.0 innings of the game for the Weevils with 0 runs allowed on 2 hits.
Arkansas-Monticello would win the game 3-1, increasing their record to 21-20.
