Minnie Lee Simmons, 1934-2022

Minnie Lee Simmons, 88, of Tillar, passed away, October 3, 2022. Born July 12, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Fannie Belin. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Union Hill Baptist Church in Warren, serving on the usher board.

She married Robert Bridges in 1952, the marriage ended in 1958. She later married Osceola Simmons and moved to Johnsville. She became a member of Hampton Chapel AME Church, serving as a choir member. She was a member of the local NAACP, serving as the treasurer. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Minnie was a former member of Antioch Baptist Church, Johnsville, Harvest Grove Baptist Church, Dayton, OH., and International House of Prayer, Pine Bluff, AR.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Osceola; children, Robert, Bobby, Barbara; grandchildren, Hebert, Jermery; siblings, J.W., Earl, Jim Jr., Earnest, Bernice, Earleen, MaeDean, Gerlean.

She is survived by her children, Osceola Jr., Darryl, Larry, James, Lee, Perry, Terry Simmons, Mamie Lee, Janice, Ondra, Jeannette Simmons, Marilyn Harris; sisters, Ola B Jones, Larilla Tucker; thirty grandchildren, sixty-nine great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held October 15 at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Warren. Burial was in Hall Cemetery, Banks. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
