Cynthia LaJoyce Broughton, 1972-2023

Cynthia LaJoyce Broughton, 50, of Banks, passed away January 31, 2023. Born February 19, 1972, she was a daughter of Charles and Brenda Gilbert.

She confessed Christ at an early age and enjoyed attending church until her health started to fail. She loved to be with her family and friends. She was employed with Home Health for many years.

Cynthia was united in marriage to Albert Douglas Broughton Jr. on December 17, 1988.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Gilbert; husband, Albert D. Broughton Jr.; brother, Torris Gilbert; grandparents; Berdie Burks, Girtie Gilbert and Carnice Gilbert.

She is survived by her mother, Brenda Gilbert of Harrell; children, Marcus Broughton (Samantha), Karie Broughton, Daisy Broughton all of Hermitage, Alicia Avery (Willie) of Jersey; grandchildren, Zayland Avery, Kasyn Broughton, Nicholas Brown, Zariaha Brown; siblings, Shavon Bradford (Byron), Lisa Moore, Chanelle Hampton (Quinn), Billie Jean Brown, Stanley Green (Lisa), Amos Moore, Eric Callum, Dawayne Gilbert, Chris Mallard; mother-in-law, Clara Broughton; sisters-in-law, Tresha Hines (Larry), Ronda Broughton; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held February 11 at Weary Rest Baptist Church in Marsden with Bishop Larry Hines officiating and Rev. Kelcey Highsmith pastor. Burial was in Weary Rest Cemetery, Marsden. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
