Mary Etta Hoyle, 1933-2023

Mary Etta Hoyle, age 90, passed away on Monday, September 04, 2023 in Little Rock, AR. She was born April 25, 1933 in Warren, AR to the late Rowland and Lillian Hogue Hoyle.

Mary worked 25 years with Sterling Stores, Inc. in Little Rock, and Target Distribution Center for 20 years. She was a doting aunt to five nieces, all of whom called her simply “Mary,†or affectionately, “Aint Mary,†“May-Ree,†“Mamie,†and “Auntie Babe.†As nieces had children, each received a handmade baby quilt and then as their children had children, the tradition continued. Mary’s contribution to family gatherings was her famous banana pudding and delicious pies. She was the Razorbacks’ #1 fan and did not take kindly to “fair-weather†Razorback fans or any fan of Texas. Whether it was yelling to her Hogs “Go, go, go!†in the stadium, listening to the radio, or watching TV, she would never miss a game. She donated regularly to many charities and was just as generous with her time and attention with her family and friends. We will miss her terribly and feel blessed she was part of our lives.

Mary is preceded in death by sisters, Billie Whitten and Wanda Lopez, and a niece, Penny Whitten Howard.

She is survived by nieces, Paula Whitten, Tammy Lopez Medlock (David), Stephanie Lopez and Paige Whitten McMillian (Edward) along with many great nieces and nephews and brother-in-law, Alan Lopez.

Graveside service was held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2023 at Oakland Cemetery. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home, in Warren, AR.

Honorary pallbearers were Danny Howard, Eddie McMillian, David Medlock, Tony Howard, Michael McMillian, J.C. Kinniard, and Josh Rateliff.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice or the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation, www.brandonburlsworth.org And the next time you call the Hogs, call them in memory of Mary.
