Strong effort by Lady Jacks in loss to DeWitt

The DeWitt Lady Dragons traveled to Warren on Thursday, April 4, 2024, (7-4) to take on the Lady Jacks.

In the top of the 1st inning, DeWitt used 7 hits to take a 4-0 lead. The Lady Jacks had a 1-2-3 inning.

The Lady Jacks’ defense rose to the occasion to hold DeWitt. Natalie Hargrave had a 2-out single. Presley Reep followed with a single, but the Lady Jacks were unable to capitalize.

The Lady Dragons used an error and single to get the first 2 batters on in the top of the 3rd. The Warren defense tightened up and got out of the inning with no damage done. Blythe Calloway had an infield single to lead off for Warren. Haven Johnson also singled. The Lady Jacks left them stranded. The score remained 4-0.

The Lady Dragons picked up 1 run in the top of the 4th inning to extend their lead to 5-0. The Lady Jacks’ Bailey Miller opened the inning with a walk. Raeleigh Milton added a 2-out single. DeWitt got out of the inning with the shutout intact.

The Lady Jacks’ pitching and defense once again held DeWitt scoreless. Haven Johnson coaxed a 1-out walk. Ember Johnson had an infield single. The Lady Jacks left them on to end the inning.

Unfortunately, DeWitt scored an insurance run to make it 6-0. Warren went down in order in the bottom of the 6th.

Warren held DeWitt scoreless in the top of the 7th. Haven Johnson kept the Lady Jacks’ faithful hopes alive with a 2-out single. Ember Johnson followed with an RBI single. Charlee Wardlaw picked up an RBI to make it 6-2.

The Lady Jacks’ record falls to 7-5 on the season. Warren will host the Lady Billies tomorrow afternoon at 5:00 PM.
