Martha (Bobbie) Lue Briant, 1930-2024

Martha (Bobbie) Lue Briant, age 94, of New Edinburg, Ark., passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at Chapel Woods Nursing Home. Born February 26, 1930, in Cleveland County, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Albert G. Barnett and Virgie A. Williams Barnett. She was a retired cafeteria worker for the New Edinburg School District, a homemaker, a talented seamstress, and a loving mother of five children. Martha was a member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church of New Edinburg.

Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 71 years, James W. Briant; one daughter, Bobbie Jean Saunders; sons-in-law, Glynn Saunders, Joe Bryant, and Frank Martin; great-grandson, Nicolas Alexander Perry; six sisters, Bessie McClellan, Ida McClellan, Dorothy Briant, Francis Harville, Margaret Myers, and Sue Doggett; and one brother, Drice Barnett.

Survivors include a son, Larry (Becky) Briant of New Edinburg; three daughters, Rita Martin of New Edinburg, Linda (Paul) Cameron of Parker’s Chapel, and Terry (Freddy) Bryant Gullett of New Edinburg; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at Moseley Cemetery in Warren, Ark., on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. by Frazer’s Funeral Home.  Pallbearers were Dustin and Jeremy Briant, Daniel Bryant, Jacob Cameron, Shane Perry, Trent Saunders, Brian Williams, Mike Harvell, and Ryan Weeks. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandsons; Brock Briant, Jack and Nate Bryant, Evan Etue, Aidan Harvell, Bridger and Jager Perry, Tristan Saunders, Noah Weeks, and Tanner and Taylor Williams.
