CLEVELAND, Miss. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team traveled to Cleveland, Mississippi, on Tuesday evening to take on Delta State University. The Weevils came out of the game with a 79-63 loss to the Statesmen.
Alex Brogdon led Arkansas-Monticello (3-3) with 12 points. Brogdon hit 5-6 field goals and 2-3 shots from the free-throw line while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out an assist.
Seth Grandberry was the second Weevil in double digits, posting 11 on the evening. Grandberry was 4-15 on field goals, 1-5 on threes, and 2-2 from the line. He also contributed two assists and a steal.
Noah Thomas was the final UAM player with ten or more, scoring 10 points. Thomas shot for 4-5 field goals and 1-2 from both beyond the arc and the free-throw line. Thomas also grabbed three defensive rebounds, passed out three assists, and grabbed two steals.
Chris Terrell and Keithean Brooks led Delta State (4-2) with 26 and 25 points.
The first half opened with a jumper from Noah Thomas to put the Boll Weevils ahead. The teams would see back-and-forth baskets, causing ten different lead changes throughout the twenty minutes. Delta State prevailed in the end, with both teams heading to the locker room with DSU leading 33-31.
UAM tied the game up for a brief moment to open the second half thanks to a jumper in the paint. Delta State reclaimed the lead and would hold it for the remainder of the game, eventually taking a 79-63 win over Monticello.
Arkansas-Monticello committed 31 turnovers in the entirety of the match.

The Weevils return to action on Tuesday, December 3, when they travel to Southern Nazarene University to open Great American Conference play. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
