Greg “Big Papa Binns” Returns Home with Delta Blues Story

WARREN, Ark. – Warren native Greg “Big Papa Binns” will bring the legacy of the Delta Blues back to his hometown with a special performance and storytelling event. Titled Cross Pollination Blues, the program chronicles Binns’ time with the late CeDell Davis—one of the last original Delta Blues singers—and explores the musical heritage of Warren.

CeDell Davis (1926–2017) was an American blues guitarist and singer, born in Helena, Arkansas. Despite being disabled by polio at a young age, he developed a remarkable slide-guitar technique that involved using a butter knife to fret the strings, creating his uniquely raw, haunting sound. Over a career spanning several decades, Davis kept the essence of Delta Blues alive through live performances and recordings, earning a dedicated following and respect among fellow musicians for his authentic style and resilience.

The event will feature live music and stories rooted in the region’s vibrant blues history. It is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Feb. 18 at the Bradley County Library, 115 Cypress Street East, Warren. For more information, call (870) 226-2536.
