Ira Joe ‘Sunny’ Purifoy, 72, of Warren, passed away, February 22, 2025. Born, February 11, 1953, to Ira and Velma Lee Preston Purifoy.
He attended Hermitage High School in Hermitage, AR. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jersey, AR. and a former employee of Potlatch Corp.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hosea Washington, sisters, Velma Jean Purifoy, Billie Ruth Washington and wife, Sue Garrett Purifoy.
He is survived by three sisters, Linda Davis, Dorothy White (Donald) both of Las Vegas, Nevada; Doris Jane Davis; brother, Leonard Don Purifoy (Leanette) both of Warren, AR.; sisters-in-law, Lee, Gwen; aunts, Lucy Zolliecoffer of Milwaukee, WI., Annie May Bossier of Houston, TX.; Opal Jean Goldsby; uncle, Dr. W. D. Goldsby both of North Little Rock, AR.; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was March 8 at Hermitage Community Center, with Bishop Larry Hines officiating. Burial was in A T Cemetery, Jersey, AR. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
