Moro Bay State Park is gearing up for an exciting Spring Break weekend, offering a variety of free outdoor programs for visitors on March 22 and 23, 2025. Activities will include boat tours, wildlife education programs, and a guided nature hike.

The weekend’s schedule kicks off on Saturday, March 22, with a boat tour from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. departing from the visitor center’s Nature Room. Attendees will cruise the waterways of Moro Bay, spotting wading birds, basking turtles, and prime fishing spots. Seating is limited, so participants are encouraged to call 870-463-8555 or visit the visitor center to sign up. While the tour is free, donations to help cover gas costs are welcomed.

At 1:00 p.m., visitors can participate in a Mammal Furs program, where a park interpreter will introduce different furry animals that inhabit the area, providing an interactive experience to see and feel real animal furs.

Later in the afternoon, at 3:30 p.m., guests can meet a live baby alligator and learn about other reptiles in the area during the Reptiles of Moro Bay program.

On Sunday, March 23, the day begins with a Guided Hike at 9:00 a.m., starting at the Deer Run Trail Head near the playground. Led by a park ranger, the easy hike will teach participants how to identify different trees and their uses, with a few even being edible.

The final event of the weekend is a second boat tour from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., offering another opportunity to explore the park’s scenic waterways. Like Saturday’s tour, reservations are required due to limited seating.

In a March 20th update from Moro Bay State Park, officials noted that the river level has dropped to 69 feet, only four feet above normal. The park’s store is stocked with new kids’ T-shirts and Arkansas-made preserves, including Mayhaw Pepper Jelly, pickled asparagus, and quail eggs.

A burn ban remains in effect, permitting fires only in BBQ grills until further notice. Additionally, cabins and campsites are mostly booked, with limited one-night stays available. However, all park amenities, including marina rentals, the park store, picnic areas, and scheduled tours and programs, remain open to visitors.

For more details or to sign up for activities, visitors can contact Moro Bay State Park at 870-463-8555.
