HERMITAGE, Ark. – 5-19-25 – The first box of tomatoes for the 2025 season has officially arrived, and it was brought in by Westin Clanton, the young son of Randy Clanton Jr. and Skye Clanton, owners of Clanton Farms in Hermitage.
The Clanton family has a proud farming legacy that spans five generations, beginning with Sam Clanton and continuing through Hollis Clanton, Randy Clanton Sr., Randy Clanton Jr., and now Westin. The family has been growing produce since the 1940s and currently cultivates approximately 500 acres of tomatoes and other vegetables.
The tomatoes in the first box of the season are of the Cherokee Purple variety, known for their rich flavor and deep color. Other varieties grown by Clanton Farms include Bradley, Ramblers, Roadsters, and Pony Express. In addition to tomatoes, the farm also produces cucumbers, yellow squash, zucchini, cabbage, and watermelons.
Westin Clanton, who proudly posed with the first box, represents the future of Clanton Farms and the continuation of a deeply rooted agricultural tradition in Bradley County.
