The week began with a visit from Mrs. Lynn of Drew County 4-H, who taught participants how to identify animal tracks. Campers even got to create their own tracks using plaster of Paris, giving them a memorable and tactile learning experience.

Following that, the rest of the week was dedicated to Cooking Camp. On Monday, students learned how to safely can salsa using fresh Bradley County tomatoes. Tuesday’s activities focused on tortilla-making, with Alyssa and her grandmother, Mrs. Sara, leading a session on crafting authentic corn tortillas from scratch. Throughout the week, students also practiced etiquette and learned how to properly set a table.

By Friday, campers brought all their new skills together to host a festive Mexican-themed meal, celebrating their hard work and culinary accomplishments.

Bradley County 4-H continues to offer engaging opportunities for local youth. Parents interested in getting their children involved can contact the Bradley County Extension Office at 870-820-8410.
