Holyan Clayton Outlaw, Jr., lovingly known as Clay, passed away on August 21, 2025, at the age of 64. He was born in December 1960 in Crossett, Arkansas, where he grew up and lived for many years before settling on the family farm in Johnsville. There, he spent his days with family, friends, and the land he loved.
Clay graduated from Crossett High School in 1979. He worked for many years at Pierce-Grassi Lumber before continuing his career in construction and farming. He took pride in his work and was known for lending a helping hand whenever it was needed.
Those who knew Clay will remember his quiet personality, his mischievous laugh, and the kindness he showed in his own humble way. He was a private man, thoughtful with his words, and he kept a close circle of friends and family who meant the most to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Holyan Outlaw; his paternal grandparents, Preston and Esther (Savage) Outlaw; and his maternal grandparents, M.L. and Bessie Mae (Swan) Maxwell. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Ann Outlaw, along with many other loving family members who will carry his memory with them always.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Clay’s life will be held at his family’s home place in Johnsville, with details to be announced soon. He will be privately laid to rest.
