NEW EDINBURG, Ark. – Members of the Re-New-ing Edinburg organization met October 21, 2025, at the New Edinburg Community Center to discuss upcoming events and community projects. President Martha Tolano called the meeting to order and welcomed those in attendance.
Minutes from the September meeting were approved following a motion by Linda Hornaday and second by Melody Spears. Hornaday, who also serves as treasurer, presented the financial statement, which will be filed for audit.
Upcoming Events and Community Projects
Under old business, members were reminded that the Great South Arkansas Junk Hunt would take place October 22–25. A workday was scheduled for Wednesday morning to complete preparations.
The group also finalized plans for its annual Halloween Fall Festival Drive-Thru, set for Friday, October 31, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the community center. A workday will be held Thursday, October 30, to fill treat bags and decorate the center. The local fire department will participate by distributing fire safety materials, and area churches have been invited to join. The event is open to anyone wishing to bring candy and participate.
Veterans Luncheon
The Cleveland County Veterans Luncheon will take place Saturday, October 25, at 11:30 a.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Veterans and one guest may eat free, with catering provided by Dorey’s. The guest speaker will be Colonel (Ret.) Robert A. Ator II, Arkansas Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
Holiday Activities
Santa Claus will visit the New Edinburg Community Center on Friday, December 19, and Saturday, December 20. Members approved two motions—one by Roger McClellan to donate $500 for toys, and another by Patricia McClellan to donate $300 to assist with community center utilities and the Veterans Park lights and sign. Both motions passed unanimously.
Next Meeting
Due to the community center being used as a polling site for the upcoming mileage tax vote, the next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 10.
