Lady Jacks Rally Past Nashville 8-7, Advance To Regional Championship

CROSSETT, Ark. — Warren battled back late Friday to earn an 8-7 win over the Nashville Scrapperettes in the 4A Regional Tournament.

Nashville jumped ahead early with two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Warren answered in the second when the Lady Jacks pushed across a run to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Warren took its first lead in the top of the fourth inning, scoring three runs to move in front 4-2. Haven Johnson and Bayleigh Miller both delivered key singles in the inning to help spark the Lady Jacks’ rally.

Nashville responded in the fifth, scoring three runs to reclaim the lead at 5-4. The Scrapperettes used a run-scoring single by Harmon, an RBI single from Smith and another run-scoring hit from Brayley Lowery to move back in front.

The Lady Jacks answered with their biggest inning of the game in the top of the sixth. Warren scored four runs to take an 8-5 advantage. Johnson provided the big swing with a home run to center field, while Charlee Wardlaw added a two-run double to center.

Nashville scored twice in the bottom of the seventh, but Warren held on for the one-run victory.

Johnson led Warren at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Miller went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Wardlaw finished 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Breize Fellows added two hits, and Raeleigh Milton, Natalie Hargrave, Blythe Calloway and Elyse Johnson each added one hit.

Warren finished with 14 hits in the win.

Milton earned the victory in the circle for the Lady Jacks. She pitched all seven innings, allowing 12 hits and seven runs, five earned, while striking out three and walking two.

With the win, Warren advanced to the 4A-4 Regional Championship game, where the Lady Jacks will face Monticello at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9.
