Buford Bead “Sonny” Rainey Jr, age 83, of Vick, Arkansas died on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was born Monday, June 7th, 1943, the son of the late Buford Bead Rainey, Sr. and Margaret Dees Rainey.

Sonny attended the Vick School System and later became a graduate of Hermitage High School. Sonny was a devoted member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Johnsville, Arkansas.

He began his career in construction with Brown and Root Construction Company. He later went to work for Johnsville Sand and Gravel Company, where he dedicated 38 years of service. In addition to his career in construction, Sonny worked cattle farming, hay fields and raising tomatoes, which brought him great joy throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Leslie Dickson.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Linda Hays Rainey; his sons, Danny Rainey; Scotty Sloan and his spouse, Tammy, both of Johnsville, AR; Scott Rainey and his spouse, Lelia, of Cordell, GA; and Tony Rainey and his spouse Charlene of Russell, KS; his daughters, Bridgette Rainey of Cordell, GA, Laura Rainey of Oklahoma City, OK; and Rhonda Sloan of Johnsville, AR; Sisters Carolyn Dickson, Bossier City, LA and Carol Jeffress and Jimmy, Crossett, AR, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services 3:00PM Sunday, September 20th at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Visitation 2:00PM till service time on Sunday at Frazer’s. Memorials preferred the Calvary Presbyterian Cemetery C/O Shelby Thompson 281 Bradley Road 56, Hermitage, AR 71647
