Tully McCoy, age 89, of New Edinburg, AR became a resident of Heaven on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
He was born in Stringtown, KY on July 20, 1934 to Jim & Virgie McCoy. The last baby of fourteen children and a direct descendant of the Real McCoys. He grew up in Lower Stringtown Holler where he mastered how to play marbles, throw rocks, and ride bareback on his horse, Billy. Those hills of Kentucky held a special place in his heart all throughout his life.
His journey led him to Michigan when he was 17 years old where he met a young girl named Norma. In 1957 he was in California where he accepted Christ as his Lord & Savior. The following year he married that young girl he had met five years earlier. They soon started a family and began sharing the gospel of Jesus in the evangelistic field. He attended Lee College in Cleveland, TN prior to moving his family back to KY in 1972 where he worked in the coal mines while they helped care for his Dad. They moved to Little Rock, AR in 1977 after losing everything they owned in a historic flood along the Tug River. Once in AR, he began his insurance career. A lot of life was lived between 1977-2004 when they made New Edinburg their final home.
From his first breath in the hills of KY to his final breath in the small community of New Edinburg, he made a valuable and memorable impact on the lives of so many.
He loved Jesus and His Word more than anything and valued his quiet time with God.
He has been reunited with his parents Jim & Virgie and all of his thirteen siblings; Sherman, Rosabell, Marie, Cordle, Martha, Spicie, Jack, Jimmy, Dahlia, John, Joyce, Luther, and Linda; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that have already made the journey.
The reunion he undeniably longed for the most was that with his son, Wade, who crossed into eternity in 1981.
Tully is survived by Norma, his wife of 65 years; his children Kristy McCoy and Michael (Angela) McCoy; his granddaughters Amberlee Fletcher and Mallory (Trevor) Williams; his great-grandchildren Lincoln Fletcher and Charlotte Williams; his nephew whom he loved like a son, Tully (Kim) Coffey; and his heart-adopted son, David (Quin) Pipes.
The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice, specifically those who helped care for Tully every week for the past year; his nurse Belinda and his aide Angelique. To Bro. John Brown, the chaplain, your visits, prayers, and friendship has been one that will never be forgotten. All of you became a part of our family. Thank you for your love and dedication.
Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at First Assembly of God Church in Warren, AR. Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 at Frazer’s Funeral Home. Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2023 at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander, AR.
