Billy Fred “Bill” Taylor, age 82 of Warren, passed away at CHI St, Vincent, on Thursday, August 22, 2024. He was born February 20, 1942 in Warren, to the late Thomas Duke Taylor and Gladys Lorene Brown Taylor.
He was a retired teacher and principal, and real estate appraiser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Sarah Jane Shaha Taylor, and a son, Steven Frederick “Beef” Taylor.
Bill was a 1960 graduate of Warren High School; earned his BS in Industrial Education from Ark A&M (1965), and his M.Ed. from UofA (1976). He taught Industrial Education at El Dorado and Monticello schools, and was Principal at Wilmar and Woodlawn schools. He was a real estate appraiser for the Bradley County Assessor’s office. He and William Miller platted every parcel in Bradley County for the implementation of 911 Emergency Codes. In 2007 he retired as real estate appraiser for the Ark. Highway Dept.
Bill was an avid deer and duck hunter and fisherman. He taught all three of his sons from an early age the proper respect for firearms and archery, and they enjoyed many years in the woods. He continued that tradition with his grandsons and granddaughter. He and his boys belonged to several deer clubs over the years, and enjoyed archery competitions around the state. He also taught wildlife courses and won numerous awards in archery.
He was proud to be a Christian, and was a faithful member and Deacon at First Baptist Church in Warren. He made a profession of faith and was baptized in the Saline River in July, I953. He will be remembered as a man of Faith, a dedicated and loving father, PopFred to his grandchildren, humble and honest to a fault.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 32 years, Jennifer Turner Taylor of Warren, brothers, Danny Taylor (Jackie), Russellville; John Thomas Taylor (Sandy), San Antonio Tx; sons, Randall Scott Taylor (Michelle), Tyler, TX; Michael Shay Taylor (Lori), Conway AR; step-daughter, Amy Meeks (Brian), Biloxi MS; Grandchildren: Cory Taylor (Sky), McKinney TX; Sydney Taylor, Dallas TX; Nathan Taylor, Conway AR; Bradley Taylor (Cassie), Van Buren AR; Bonus Grandchildren, Megan Sittig, David Castles (Kayla): Alex Meeks, Rian Meeks, Great Granddaughters: Poppy Taylor, Pepper Taylor, Lora Taylor
Funeral services were at 2 P.M. Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Frazer’s Funeral Home, Warren. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church building fund.
