STAR CITY, Ark. – 9-16-24 – In a heartfelt tribute, the Star City School District Board of Education has officially named the district’s new tennis courts the “Emily Snyder Tennis Complex” in memory of former Bulldog Tennis Coach Emily Snyder. The decision came during the board’s regular meeting on Monday, September 16, 2024, with an official resolution passed to honor Snyder’s contributions.
Emily Snyder, who led the Star City High School tennis program for five years, was known for her dedicated leadership and lasting impact on student-athletes. Her efforts in building a strong tennis program were highlighted in the resolution as the foundation for future success in the sport at Star City.
The district is already making plans for the installation of appropriate signage at the complex, with a dedication ceremony to be announced at a later date.
The resolution acknowledged Snyder’s work, stating that she paved the way for the construction of the new tennis courts and that it was “fitting and appropriate” to honor her by naming the facility after her.
The Star City School District, along with the community, remembers Snyder’s contributions with pride, as her influence on the tennis program continues to be felt.

WHEREAS, Emily Snyder served as head coach of the Star City High School Tennis Program for five years; and
WHEREAS, through her dedicated leadership, she has had a positive and lasting impact on student-athletes; and
WHEREAS, over the years she has built a strong tennis program that the district and community can be proud of, laying the groundwork for future generations; and
WHEREAS, the construction of the new tennis courts is a significant enhancement to the Star City High School campus and athletic facilities, with much credit to Emily Snyder for paving the way with her program; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate to recognize such a distinguished educator by naming the tennis facility in her honor and memory; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Star City Board of Education hereby names the tennis courts in honor and memory of Emily Snyder as the “Emily Snyder Tennis Complex.”
