MORO BAY, Ark. – Visitors to Moro Bay State Park were recently treated to an impressive sight as a variety of large wading birds made a stop at the park’s small pond near the entrance. According to a recent announcement from Moro Bay State Park, species spotted included Great Egrets, Wood Storks, a Great Blue Heron, and even a juvenile White Ibis. These majestic birds, often found in the shallow waters of the bay, provided an exciting birdwatching experience for visitors.
Park officials shared that while these birds are frequently seen in the shallow areas of the bay, accessible by boat, their presence near the park entrance was a rare and rewarding opportunity for visitors. The sighting highlights the park’s diverse wildlife and its role as a refuge for many bird species, making it an excellent destination for nature lovers.
The juvenile White Ibis, a less common sight in the region, was especially notable. Visitors are encouraged to keep an eye out for more birdwatching opportunities throughout the fall.
In addition to wildlife watching, Moro Bay State Park has enhanced its amenities for campers. Wi-Fi access, previously available only to cabin guests, is now live in the campground, offering a convenient connection for all campers.
For those seeking a fall retreat, cabins and campsites at the park are filling up fast, with limited availability in October. Reservations can be made online at Arkansas State Parks – Moro Bay.
The park is also hiring for a part-time desk clerk position, paying $12.51 per hour. The role includes guest services, making reservations, and selling gift shop items. Applications are due by October 1, 2024.
