WARREN, Ark. – The City of Warren held a heartfelt ceremony on Friday to honor the memory of Alice J. Henderson by dedicating Abernathy Street to her legacy. Local officials and a gathering of community members came together to pay tribute to the late community icon, unveiling a commemorative sign that now marks the street “In Memory of Alice J. Henderson.”
Henderson, a beloved figure in the neighborhood, was the oldest homeowner on Abernathy Street, where she lived to an inspiring age of 103. She and her husband, John, built their family home on the street nearly 80 years ago, and over the decades, Henderson became a pillar of her community. Known for her kindness and generosity, she cared for neighborhood children and was active in several church auxiliaries, earning a lasting place in the hearts of those around her.
August 29, 2024, marked the fifth anniversary of Henderson’s passing, a day that reminded her community of her lasting impact.
