NEW EDINBURG, Ark. – The Re-New-ing Edinburg group met on March 18, 2025, at the New Edinburg Community Center to discuss recent events, review financials, and finalize plans for a series of upcoming community activities.
President Martha Tolano called the meeting to order and distributed the minutes from the February 17 meeting. Linda Hornaday made a motion to approve the minutes, which was seconded by Melody Spears and passed. Hornaday, who also serves as treasurer, shared the financial report, which will be filed for audit.
Melody Spears reported on the success of the February 28 game night and provided a summary of the March 8th BBQ event. The next scheduled community activity is the annual Junk Hunt, set for April 3–5. A work day to organize and price sale items will be held on Friday, April 4, at 9 a.m. Booth space is available for rent at $25 for a 10’x10’ space. Those interested should contact Melody Spears to reserve a spot.
The group is also participating in the Great American Trash Pickup. A limited supply of t-shirts and garbage bags will be available for volunteers. Those wishing to join the cleanup effort should reach out to Patricia McClellan for supplies.
Kathy Waldrop shared plans for the Spring Fling & Easter Egg Hunt, scheduled for April 12 at 2 p.m. at the community center. Activities will include a cupcake walk, egg race, bubble table, go fish, and more. Snow cones will be available, and candy-filled eggs will be hidden and distributed. Volunteers are asked to meet at 10 a.m. that morning to help set up.
Planning is also underway for the New Edinburg All School Reunion on April 26 at the community center. Corey’s Catfish Co. will provide food at $15 per plate, with meal ticket sales closing April 18. Cupcakes will be served for dessert, and decorations are being planned. Several items—including a Blackstone Grill—have been donated to help fundraise for the event.
Representatives from the group will attend the Cleveland County Kickstart Banquet on May 8 at the fairgrounds. Trenna Kemp and Patricia McClellan will represent Re-New-ing Edinburg at the quarterly Kickstart meeting in Kingsland on March 24.
Finally, a BBQ fundraiser and auction for Jeremy Reynolds will be held May 17 at the community center.
The next Re-New-ing Edinburg meeting is scheduled for April 15.
