In the 18th minute, Mondragon nearly broke the deadlock, rattling the crossbar following a corner. Azul Garcia tried her luck from distance in the 23rd, sending a shot into the side netting. Star City had a dangerous counter in the 25th, but Warren goalkeeper Allie Adair came up with a key save to keep the match level.

The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when a Mondragon corner kick caused confusion in the box. Star City failed to clear, and Warren’s Angie Cortes pounced, slotting the ball into the net to give the Lady Jacks a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Just after the restart, Mondragon came close again, beating the keeper only to watch her shot bounce off the crossbar and spin away from goal.

Star City found an equalizer in the 72nd minute from a half-chance, knotting the game at 1-1. But Garcia responded in spectacular fashion. In the 78th minute, she bent a corner kick directly into the top corner, restoring Warren’s lead with a stunning effort.

Adair made one more crucial save in the 77th minute to help preserve the win.

The Lady Jacks will return to action at home on Thursday for Senior Night, hosting Lonoke in their final regular season matchup.
