Warren Recognized as Tree City USA by Arkansas Forestry Division

On Monday, June 2, representatives from the Arkansas Forestry Division presented the City of Warren with official signage designating it as a Tree City USA community. The presentation was made to Mayor Gregg Reep, acknowledging Warren’s continued commitment to urban forestry and environmental stewardship.

The Tree City USA program is a national recognition established by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and National Association of State Foresters. To qualify, a city must meet four core standards: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita annually on urban forestry, and hosting an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Warren’s recognition as a Tree City USA community reflects ongoing efforts to care for and expand its urban forest. This includes not only planting and maintaining trees but also educating the public on the importance of trees for environmental health, beautification, and quality of life.

The Tree City USA signs presented Monday will be installed at key entry points around the city, reinforcing Warren’s identity as a place that prioritizes the health and sustainability of its natural surroundings. The designation is particularly meaningful given the city’s longstanding history of forestry in Southeast Arkansas.

Mayor Reep thanked the Forestry Division for its support and reaffirmed the city’s commitment to responsible tree management and conservation initiatives.
