Catrenina Shantrell York, 51, of Tuscaloosa, AL., formerly of Warren, passed away May 19, 2025. Born July 9, 1973, to Debra Williams and John Sloan.
Catrenina attended Warren High School and graduated from Hillcrest High School in Memphis, TN. She worked as a CNA for many years.
Catrenina’s spirit touched everyone who knew her and losing her has left a deep ache in our hearts. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved her grandkids dearly. You could not tell her anything when it came to her kids and grandkids, she did whatever she could for them. She made sure to provide them with anything they wanted or needed.
She was preceded in death by her child, Aja York; mother, Debra Williams; father, John Sloan; grandmother, Beulah Ederington; grandfather, Robert Ederington; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her stepfather, Grady Marshall; children, Sharnequa Sloan, Khyla’ Sloan, Ky’Ana Sloan; grandchildren, Jai’Ceon Hinton, Ja’Ziya Hinton; siblings, Lakia Sloan, Corey Sloan; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral service was held May 29 at Hammons Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Hammons.
