The Rotary Club of Warren met Tuesday, June 17 in the Fellowship Hall at First Methodist Church after postponing its June 10 meeting. The meeting began with an announcement from Rotarian Carlton Davis that the Southeast Arkansas Education Service Cooperative has funded the next 10 months of the Imagination Library. He thanked them for their generous support of the Bradley County Imagination Library. The Rotary Club of Warren recently had Local Lead Jessica Griffin from the organization as a program.

The meeting then transitioned to the program of Helen Frosh. President Dana Harvey presented Frosh in place of Rotarian Andrew Tolbert, who couldn’t be in attendance. Frosh is the Assistant Director of Adult Education for SouthArk and is over the program in SouthArk’s Bradley County Campus located at 204 North Bragg Street in Warren. Frosh talked about the importance of literacy and numeracy with how it affects everyday life and job opportunities. She then went on to give the group a number of statistics regarding the amount of people nationally, statewide, and locally that are not proficient in literacy or numeracy. She concluded by talking about the free programs and resources available at SouthArk for Adult Education that include academic instruction, workplace training, and English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction. She concluded her program by answering a few questions from the crowd. The Rotary Club of Warren will meet next week (June 24) for its final meeting of June.
