New Garbage Containers Rolling Out Across Warren

WARREN, Ark. – The City of Warren has begun distributing new large brown garbage containers to residents and small businesses across town. The rollout is part of an ongoing effort to streamline sanitation services and reduce garbage collection costs.

Pictured with the new containers are Building Official and Solid Waste Manager Rob Johnson, along with sanitation department members John McCoy, Kendrick Newton, and James Avery.

According to the City, every household in Warren will receive one of the new brown containers, as will small businesses that do not have a large dumpster. Residents who do not receive their container by October 17 are asked to contact the Sanitation Department at 870-226-5860.

The City noted that these new containers remain the property of the City of Warren, but each is assigned to a specific residence or business.

For the next several months, garbage pickup will continue twice a week as usual. However, city officials plan to transition to once-a-week pickup in the future. The start date for the new schedule will be announced later.

Once the one-day-a-week schedule begins, residents will be required to use only the brown City of Warren containers for garbage disposal. Until then, residents may continue setting out garbage in bags or personal containers. All garbage should be bagged before being placed in bins, as loose trash will not be collected.

The City is also encouraging residents to recycle paper and cardboard, which helps reduce overall waste collection costs. Drop-off locations are available next to the Emergency Services Center by the Fire Department and at the Senior Citizens Center on North Etheridge Street—both open 24/7.

For businesses or residents with large amounts of recyclable paper or cardboard, the Sanitation Department can schedule a pickup upon request.

City officials say more details will be shared soon regarding the upcoming changes to the garbage pickup schedule.
