NEW EDINBURG, Ark. — Members of Re-New-ing Edinburg met February 17 at the New Edinburg Community Center to review business matters and finalize plans for several upcoming spring events.
President Trenna Kemp called the meeting to order. The January minutes were reviewed, with one correction noted in the Upcoming Events section. The date for the Easter Egg Hunt was amended to April 4, 2026. Melody Spears made a motion to accept the minutes as amended, which was seconded by Dave Kemp and approved by the group.
Treasurer Linda Hornaday distributed the financial statement for review. Following a brief discussion, the report will be filed for audit.
Several community events were discussed:
- Game Night is scheduled for February 26 at 5 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring snack food and drinks.
- The Community Center BBQ Fundraiser will be held March 14. Melody Spears will provide additional details regarding food contributions.
- The annual Junk Hunt is set for March 26–28. Members were encouraged to bring donations as early as possible.
- The Easter Egg Hunt will take place April 4. Volunteers will meet at 11 a.m. to set up, with the event running from 1 to 3 p.m. Planned activities include a cake walk, bubbles, an egg-and-spoon race, and a bouncy ball race.
During discussion of the Easter event, Kathy Waldrop announced she will no longer organize the Easter Egg Hunt or the Christmas Candyland setup and games. Members discussed responsibilities for organizing games and purchasing toys for the upcoming event.
Melody Spears also informed the group that the Cleveland County School Board has expressed interest in donating a parcel of land at the New Edinburg School to the Community Center. The property includes the building currently used to store Christmas lights.
The meeting was adjourned following a motion by Don Triplett and a second by Luis Tolano. The next meeting of Re-New-ing Edinburg is scheduled for March 17, 2026.
