James “Jim” Norris age 92, of New Edinburg, AR died Tuesday, March 24th, 2026 at the Belle View Nursing and Rehab in Monticello, AR. He was born May 21st, 1933 in New Edinburg, AR a son of the late Elmer R. Norris and O’lelian Joiner Norris. He and his first wife, Mary Flanigen Norris bore three children and she passed away in 1968. He remarried his second wife, Evelyn Candler, bringing together a family of 9 siblings in 1969 and Evelyn passed away in 2023. He is also preceded in death by son Donnie Norris, daughters Rebecca Clanton, Kathy Spence, Kim Griffin, sisters Etoil Tomlin, Jaunita Steadman, a brother Earl Norris and grandchildren Jenny Clanton and Jayden Candler.
He is survived by sons James Norris Jr. of New Edinburg, AR, Norman Candler Sr. (Nina) of New Edinburg, AR, Steve Candler (Gwen) of Camden, AR and daughters Karen Burkardt (Fred) West Plains, MO and Mary Parker (Myles) of Bauxite, AR.
Sisters Gladys Rowsey of Horn Lake, MS, Argie Mae Chaillaux of Westminster, CO, Blanche Waterhouse of Lake Hamilton, FL, Linda Earline Engstrom and many nieces and nephews.
Grandchildren: Chris Norris (Mary), Lauren Burt (Jesse), Derek Burkardt, Alyssa Glasscock, Logan Burkardt, Brian Candler, Norman Candler Jr., Adam Candler, Shelly Ashcraft (Kevin), Cheryl Hunter (Jacob), Kassidy Spence (Sonnie), Jason Eaton, Richard Clanton (Phyllis)
Great grandchildren: William, Alexander and Skylynn Candler, Tyler Burks, Greyson Ashcraft, Wyatt Hunter, Nathan, Annie and Carmen Clanton, Harlan, Wilhelmina, Shepherd and Beaumont Glasscock, Kaitlynn Norris. Great-great grandchildren: Huck and Heidi Mae Burks, Mary Evelyn and Boston Ashcraft, Liam and Noah Brooks and Ivy Ryn Miranda
Funeral service was 2:00PM Sunday, March 29th 2026 at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Billy Biggs officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home.
