Lumberjacks Tame Wildcats 11-1 for Conference Win

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (4/14/26) – The Warren and Watson Chapel baseball teams played a scoreless game through two innings, but the Jacks’ bats came alive for an 11-1 victory in six innings Tuesday evening in Pine Bluff.

The Lumberjacks improved to 4-2 in the 4A-8 Conference with the win and are now 7-7 overall on the season. Watson Chapel is now 2-9 overall and 0-6 in conference matchups. After Tuesday’s results there is now a four-way tie for first place with Warren, Hamburg, Monticello, and Crossett all at 4-2 in league play.

Warren hit into a double play in each of the first two innings to keep the game scoreless, but scored on a passed ball in the third inning to get on the scoreboard. However, another double play kept the game at 1-0. The Jacks were able to extend the lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning with the help of an error and RBI single by Ren Reep.

The Orange and Black finally put together a big inning with five runs in the fifth. Ty Hembree drove home the first run of the frame before Aceen Jurado hit a sacrifice fly for the second run to make the score 6-0. Tucker McDiarmid then singled home two more for an 8-0 advantage and Reep tripled home the final run of the frame for a 9-0 lead.

Watson Chapel was able to get on the scoreboard with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 9-1. The Jacks quickly responded in the next frame when Parker O’Neal scored on a passed ball and Chris Barnes followed with an RBI single to push the score to 11-1. The Wildcats couldn’t score in the bottom of the sixth to seal the run-rule 11-1 win for Warren.

Reep tossed the first four innings for the Jacks and allowed no runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. Barnes threw the final two frames. McDiarmid led the offense with three hits while Reep, Hembree, and Logan Case picked up two hits apiece. Reep and McDiarmid each drove in two runs. Warren out hit the Wildcats 11-3 and also drew eight walks during the game.

The Lumberjacks return to action Thursday, April 16 with another pivotal conference matchup against Star City. First pitch from the Warren City Complex is set for 5 p.m.
