MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team closes out the 2025 regular season at home on Weevils Field at Union Bank Park against the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas University. Due to forecasted inclement weather the originally scheduled weekend home slate with the SAU has been flexed to a single contest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, and a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, April 25. Saturday will still see Senior Day recognition prior to first pitch at approximately 1:45 p.m. All games will be played at Weevils Field at Union Bank Park.
SENIOR DAY FESTIVITIES ON APRIL 25
Senior Recognition – Starting at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Weevils Field, the Boll Weevils and UAM Athletics will honor our 11 seniors. (Live Stream will start around 1:30 p.m.)
Senior Day Doubleheader – The first game of the doubleheader will commence upon the completion of the senior recognition.
LAST MEETING
Earlier in the season, the Weevils bested the Muelriders 12-7. Arkansas-Monticello kicked off the game scoring four runs in the top of the first, commencing with a bases-loaded walk that brought in Camden Tanner. A sacrifice fly from Darcy Barry plated Elijah Olaybal, while Eli Marvin and Jackson Riedling crossed courtesy of a triple to right field from Kyle Tolley. The Weevils plated two more runs in the second, making it a 6-0 ball game two innings in, as Riedling singled to right center, scoring Daniel Lizarraga and Drew Floyd. The Muleriders saw action in the bottom of the fourth off a single up the middle, before adding two more runs in the fifth off a UAM error and a single through the left side. A SAU error put Floyd in scoring position in the seventh, who saw his way home two batters later as Lizarraga singled to right field. SAU crossed in two more runs in the bottom of the seventh off a single up the middle. The Boll Weevils stretched their lead by seven, 12-5, in the top of the eighth as Darcy Barry doubled to right center, bringing in Olaybal and Riedling. Tolley tripled for the second time in the game, scoring Barry. Tolly saw himself crossing home as Gabe Kuttenkuler homered to center field. The Muleriders added two more runs in their half of the inning off a single to center field. Preston Crow was called to close the contest, pitching the remaining 1.0 inning, earning the win on the mound.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Weevils trail in the series, 47-96-1 to the Muleriders, a record that dates back to April 3, 1976, a 7-4 win. The teams have seen one tie through 143 meetings, a 4-4 draw that happened in April of 2000. Since 1976, the Weevils are 23-38-1 at home, 19-50 on the road, and 31-77-1 in conference play. The largest margin of victory for the men in green and white came via an 18-2 decision on March 25, 2001. Through 143 meetings, the Weevils have plated 695 runs, averaging 4.83 per game.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WEEVILS
The Boll Weevils delivered an offensive surge to secure a 10-3 victory over the Choctaws on Tuesday evening. Eli Marvin led for the Weevils with a three-run blast to right center, capping off a four-run frame and stretching the lead to 7-2 in the bottom of the fifth, with a two-run shot that pushed the lead to 9-3 in the bottom of the sixth.
