James Mackel Hays age 70, of Johnsville, AR died Thursday, April 30th2026 at his home in Johnsville. He was born May 19th 1955 in Warren, AR, a son of the late Newt Hays and Alline McKinny Hays. He was retired from Potlatch and Johnsville Sand and Gravel, he loved the outdoor life, throwing horseshoes and being on the river. Mackel was raised and reared in the Baptist Church, and attended the Hermitage High School. Also preceding him was his son, Dallas Hays and agrandson Trenton Gleaton, and a friend Danita Baker.
Mackel is survived by his daughters, Justice Reynolds and Jeremy, New Edinburg, AR, and Steffanie Gleaton and Ryan, St. Joseph, Michigan. Brother Sammy Hays, Warren, AR and Danny Hays, Fulton, AR. Sister Joan McCallister, New Edinburg, AR, Jamie Hays, El Dorado, AR, Kathy Clarke, Warren, Ar, and Patty Grice and spouse David, Warren, AR. 8 Grandchildren Easton and Marlee Reynolds, Gavyn, Mason and Addison Hays, Samuel, Alexander and Lauren Gleaton.
Funeral services 2:00PM Monday, May 4th, 2026 at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Buddy Boykin preaching. Burial in Holly Springs Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Visitation 6:00PM till 8:00PM Sunday, May 3rdat Frazer’s Funeral Home.
