Shelby Jeffers, 88, of Crossett, died Monday, August 10, 2026 at her residence. Mrs. Jeffers was born February 19, 1938, in Banks. She was a resident of Crossett for the past 14 years, having previously lived in Conway for seven years and in Pine Bluff for many years. Mrs. Jeffers was known as a hard worker and spent much of her life working in Crossett and Hamburg. She worked as a seamstress at the Warren Shirt Factory and later as a retail sales clerk at Dillard’s in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Jeffers enjoyed watching television and surrounding herself with pretty things. She took great pride in her appearance and had a love for fashion, especially shoes, purses, and jewelry. Most of all, she loved her cats.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Jeffers; her parents, Derwood and Opal Nutt Lucas and three grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Junior Furgerson of Crossett; two daughters, Angela Oglesby and her husband, Joe, of Malvern and Melissa Jones of Crossett; a brother, Ray Lucas and his wife, Shirley, of Virginia; a sister, Faye Shehane of El Dorado; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
